Duvet covers are used to protect a down or other material filled form of bedding. Duvets are used to sleep on, providing protection for your fitted sheets, and comfort for you while you sleep. The covers, resembling pillow cases and made from cotton or other sturdy materials have buttons or a long zipper at one end. They are placed on the duvet to provide easier cleaning, so rather than going through a dry cleaner, or a long difficult task of washing the duvet itself, you can just remove the cover and throw it in the washing machine.

These covers, like regular blankets and sheets used as bedding, can range from bold, bright colors, to delicate patterns to fit any décor or style. You can match the shade of your walls or window treatments, or chose a pattern to contrast the rest of the bedroom. With using a cover comes the freedom to change it any time. If you decide one day to repaint the room and want to match the bedding, you can simple switch the duvet cover. They can have woven or printed patterns. There is also the choice of no pattern at all, just simply add a beautiful color. Using these covers can add elegance and comfort to your bed, along with a greater sense of cleanliness.

While you may be tempted to just use the duvet without the cover, keep in mind that duvets need their covers. This keeps them clean from any debris that may stain or damage the material inside. They are not as expensive as they sound with their European name, because like most other bedding materials, they can be found at a discount, ranging through prices that will suit your needs. They come in many materials, and a variety of sizes so finding the one for you won't be a task, but rather a pleasure.
